DormDeal ("we", "us", "our", or "Company") operates the DormDeal mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your information when you use our service.

• Email address (required for account creation and verification)
• Password (hashed and securely stored)
• University/college affiliation (derived from email domain)
• Display name and optional profile information

2.2 Transaction Information

• Listing data you create (title, description, photos, price)
• Purchase history and transaction records
• Messages between buyers and sellers
• Ratings and reviews

2.3 Technical Information

• Device identifiers and push notification tokens
• App usage data and crash logs
• IP address and approximate location (for campus detection)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Verify your university affiliation via email domain
• Facilitate buying and selling transactions
• Send push notifications about messages and listings
• Process in-app payments through Stripe and support Apple Pay where available
• Moderate content and enforce community guidelines
• Improve app performance and user experience
• Investigate fraud and security incidents

4. Data Storage & Security

• Authentication tokens are stored securely in the device Keychain (iOS)
• Database and user data are hosted on Supabase with encryption
• All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Payment information is processed through Stripe and is not stored on our servers

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

• Payment processors: Stripe (for payment processing)
• Communication services: Email providers for verification codes
• Push notifications: Apple Push Notification service (APNs) with your consent

6. User Rights & Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app Settings:

1. Tap Profile → Delete Account
2. Your account and associated data will be permanently deleted within 24 hours
3. Your listings will be removed from the marketplace
4. Transaction history may be retained for legal and compliance purposes

7. Children's Privacy

DormDeal is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

8. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of DormDeal after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
