1. Agreement
By creating an account, tapping to agree on the Welcome screen, or using DormDeal, you agree to these Terms and to the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use DormDeal.
Checking the agreement control and creating an account is your electronic signature. Florida’s Uniform Electronic Transaction Act (Fla. Stat. § 668.50) and the federal E-SIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001) allow that agreement to be effective in electronic form.
These Terms are a contract between you and DormDeal, a Florida-based campus marketplace operator. This website copy is controlling. The same URLs open in the app.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have a valid .edu email from a qualifying college or university.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your login only for yourself.
3. Account
You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at support@dormdeal.app if you think someone else is using it. You may delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account). Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.
4. What DormDeal is
DormDeal is an online venue where verified students list campus goods, message each other, and arrange in-person pickup. Listings, photos, and messages are user content. DormDeal is not the seller of items other students list, and is not a party to the contract between buyer and seller.
Federal law (47 U.S.C. § 230) treats providers of interactive computer services as not the publisher of information other people post. That does not limit our right to remove content or suspend accounts under these Terms.
5. Payments and pickup (campus pilot)
During the campus pilot, DormDeal does not charge buyers in the app. If you tap Buy now, you confirm that you will arrange payment with the seller at pickup (cash or another method you both accept). We do not process cards, Apple Pay, or payouts in this pilot, and we do not offer buyer protection, dispute resolution, or refunds for those handoffs.
- Sellers set prices in U.S. dollars and must describe items honestly.
- You and the other student are responsible for payment, condition at handoff, and campus meetup safety.
- Meet in a public campus place. Do not share passwords, bank details, or government ID numbers in chat.
If we later enable in-app checkout, we will update these Terms before that launch and describe fees, Apple Pay / card processing, and any buyer-protection rules that then apply.
6. Listings and content
You keep ownership of content you post. You grant DormDeal a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the marketplace (for example, showing your listing photo in the feed).
You represent that you have the right to post the content, that it is accurate, and that it does not violate law or these Terms. We may remove or limit content that we believe violates these Terms or the Guidelines.
7. Prohibited items and conduct
You may not list, request, or use DormDeal to facilitate:
- Weapons, explosives, or dangerous materials
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances
- Stolen, counterfeit, or infringing goods
- Hazardous materials
- Adult sexual content or services
- Academic work sold as a completed assignment in violation of school rules (including plagiarized work)
- Anything else illegal or barred by the Community Guidelines
You may not harass, defraud, impersonate, scrape the service, or interfere with other students’ use of DormDeal. Details live in the Community Guidelines. If those Guidelines conflict with these Terms, these Terms control.
8. Reporting and safety
You can report a listing, user, or message and block a user in the app. We review reports to enforce these Terms. Contact safety@dormdeal.app (safety@dormdeal.app) for safety issues. If someone is in immediate danger, contact campus or local emergency services first.
9. Copyright (DMCA)
If you believe content on DormDeal infringes your copyright, send a notice that meets 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to:
DMCA Agent
DormDeal
Email: legal@dormdeal.app (legal@dormdeal.app)
Include: your signature, the copyrighted work, the material you claim is infringing and where it appears, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act. We may remove material and terminate repeat infringers when appropriate.
Registration of this agent with the U.S. Copyright Office is a separate filing. Until that filing is complete, use legal@dormdeal.app as the public contact on this site.
10. Disclaimers
DormDeal is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that meetups are safe, that items are as described, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Students deal with each other at their own risk. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the fullest extent Florida law allows.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent Florida law allows, DormDeal is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or from a transaction with another student. Our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid DormDeal in the 12 months before the claim (if any) or (b) fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some of these limits may not apply where the law does not allow them, including for our own fraud or willful misconduct.
You will defend and indemnify DormDeal against claims that arise from your content, your listings, your meetups, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent a claim is caused by our willful misconduct.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these Terms, fraud, harassment, illegal activity, or risk to other students. You may stop using DormDeal and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 6, 10, 11, and 13) survive termination.
13. Governing law
Florida law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and DormDeal consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Florida, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or safety.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app when reasonably possible. If you continue to use DormDeal after the updated date, you accept the new Terms.
